Hi! I’m Araluen
14k By Araluen is the culmination of many years of research and discovery into drinks and fermentations by me, Araluen.
I am a mother of four children, all in or nearing teenager years. I have a background as an industrial chemist, natural therapist (Bach Flower remedies, Reflexology and massage), teaching and permaculture. Permaculture is the glue that holds 14k together and underpins our values and ethics.
The fruit used in our drinks is grown within Chittering with very few exceptions. Some of our ingredients, such as horseradish and Jabuticaba are sourced from growers that only supply us. In addition to making non alcoholic drinks – ginger beer, fire cider, cordials and shrubs, I run workshops in fermentation of drinks and food as well as making other household staples from scratch.
Workshops are run through the Town of Bassendean, the Locavore Store in Bindoon, Swan Libraries, and also booked privately. If your organisation would like to book a workshop or you have a group of friends who would like to learn how to make something from scratch, fermented vegetables (like kimchi), or make mustard, fermented salsa, fire cider, kombucha, kvass, or something that you’ve seen and would like to try to make, send me an inquiry. I also run workshops on making beautiful non-alcoholic cocktails that look AND taste great.
